Modalities

Relaxation massage - also called "Swedish Massage." Slow and light-touch techniques to increasing circulation and reduce sympathetic nervous system firing. Specific areas or conditions won't be treated but long and slow gliding techniques with warm oil unite your whole body. Head aches, exhaustion, lack of concentration, constipation etc... stress can cause a lot of problems and this massage is perfect for you to forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Usually not covered by insurance.

Therapeutic massage - also called "Clinical Massage." Focuses on your specific concerns with a variety of techniques and pressures. Therapists will perform assessment to find out where your problem originates and discuss the treatment plan with you. Compensatory body areas are also treated to give even more relief from pain. If you have a request about pressure or specific techniques you like/dislike, please let therapists know.

Myofascial Release - Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)

Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Reiki - is a hands-on healing modality that uses Universal Life Force (also known as ki/chi/prana) to remove blockages in the client's body and energy system.  Each treatment is unique and works on every level of the mind, body and spirit. Our therapists are trained in a variety of styles including Usui/Tibetan Reiki, Jikiden Reiki and Lightarian Reiki.

German Auricular Medicine (Auricular acupuncture) - is a method to treat the entire body by using needles on the ears.  We can tell what's happening in our body by assessing our ears because the only pathological points our brain experiences show up as tender spots on the ear. This is a great treatment for chronic pain, migraine, PMS, menopausal symptoms, digestive issues such as IBS and acid reflex, depression, stress and so many more conditions. You can find more information about this modality at http://www.vitalprinciple.ca/german-auricular-medicine/

Cupping - is a great modality to treat many conditions such as chronic pain, scar tissue and muscular tightness by applying cups on the skin directly and removing air within creating negative pressure. In our clinic, we use plastic cups and a pump to suck the air out so we can control the intensity of suction very easily.  Plus, we can treat other areas of the body while we leave the cups on another, this allows us to treat more in the same amount of time.  We find the effects of cupping treatments last longer than one from massage only.  One thing you have to keep in your mind is this will leave some discoloration on your skin after the treatment. These markings will usually disappear within a 1-7 days depending on individual metabolism and become less with frequent cupping treatments.
